Carport Grading, Asphalt Millings, and Bahia Sod Backyard Fix

Mud under a carport is one of those problems that just keeps getting worse. Every time it rains, you're tracking it inside, your tires are spinning in it, and the whole area becomes basically unusable. That's exactly what we were dealing with here - a soggy, uneven carport floor and a backyard that had low spots just sitting and holding water.

We started with grading the carport area and brought in recycled asphalt millings to give it a clean, stable surface. Millings are a solid choice for this kind of spot - they pack down tight, shed water well, and hold up under vehicle weight without the cost of pouring concrete. It gives you a functional, cleaner parking area without overbuilding it.

For the backyard, the plan was simple. We hauled in clean fill dirt to raise the low areas where water liked to collect, graded everything out to move water away from where it was pooling, and then finished it off with Bahia sod. Bahia is a tough, drought-tolerant grass that roots well even in sandy Florida soil - it was the right call for this yard.

What we ended up with is a backyard that actually works. No more mud pit under the carport. No more standing water killing the grass and making a mess. Just a clean, functional space from the carport all the way through the yard. Sometimes a few targeted upgrades like this are all it takes to completely change how a property feels and functions.
